Itinerary
Arrive in Rome and meet up with your Tour Director and group. After a brief introduction, start your Italian adventure with a guided walking tour through the hidden gems of Rome’s Trastevere and the historic Roman Ghetto. Wander the vibrant lanes of Trastevere, where ivy-draped buildings and buzzing piazzas tell stories of local Roman life. In the ancient Jewish Ghetto, discover traditional synagogues and eateries that preserve their cultural heritage. In the evening, enjoy a delicious welcome dinner at a local restaurant, and tuck into the first taste of Roman cuisine on tour.
Wave Rome goodbye and set out on the journey to the town of Alberobello, nestled in the heart of Puglia’s picturesque landscapes. Arrive in the afternoon. An expert local guide will show you the mysteries of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then, explore the unique trulli houses - cone-shaped stone buildings that add to the area's fairytale charm. Next, stroll along the winding streets and soak up the scenery and surroundings of this historic town. Step into this living storybook of stone and tradition and get immersed in the sense of history it holds.
Today, take full advantage of a free day to explore Alberobello and all its splendour at your own pace. You could choose to leisurely explore the town’s captivating trulli neighbourhoods or join an exciting optional experience. Alternatively, join a day trip to Matera and Polignano a Mare, two bucket-list destinations in Puglia. No matter what you choose, this magical region's laid-back lifestyle and slower pace allow you to connect with yourself and the world around you.
Leave Alberobello behind this morning as the journey continues to the colourful and striking Amalfi Coast, where picture-perfect villages are framed by dramatic cliffs overlooking bright, turquoise waters. Travel along the scenic coastal roads and soak up views for miles at every turn. Upon arrival in Salerno, experience how history and modern charm coexist perfectly. Relish this romantic destination and dig into a dinner of local delicacies. This is what leisure in Salerno looks like!
Today's free day provides the perfect opportunity to explore and experience Salerno your way. Stroll the historic streets, walk the waterfront promenades for a taste of peace and tranquillity, or choose to add on an exciting optional activity and head to the Isle of Capri. Experience the elegant island, complete with enchanting grottos, stunning gardens and boutiques and restaurants frequented by celebrities.
One of this tour’s most popular attractions is on today's list! Explore the ancient ruins of Pompeii, Europe’s most fascinating archaeological site. When Mount Vesuvius erupted, it left the site almost completely frozen in time. Wander around and witness the well-preserved evidence of ancient Roman life. Get captivated by the stories of local life thousands of years ago. Next, journey on to Umbria's rolling hills towards Assisi. See if you can sense the serenity that comes with devoted spiritual practice. Then, visit the Basilica of St. Francis, one of Italy's most prominent religious sites. This evening, sit down for a traditional Umbrian dinner, complete with local delights and rich local wines to toast another excellent day!
Indulge in the ultimate immersion into Siena's medieval magic today. This city is famous for the Palio horse race which is held twice a year. From the grand piazzas and Gothic architecture, there is a lot to admire in this city. Next, journey to San Gimignano, a historic city with soaring towers decorating the skyline and relics telling the tales of this city. This fortified town feels like a fairytale, complete with feuding families (real or not, the drama is very entertaining). End the day by stopping at a local Tuscan vineyard to taste some of Italy’s finest wines and experience the region’s celebrated culinary culture.
Leave the Tuscan countryside behind and travel to Florence, where you'll embark on a guided tour of the birthplace of the Renaissance upon arrival. Marvel at the grandeur of the Duomo, the detail of Michelangelo’s ‘David’, and the local essence that's palpable in Piazza della Signoria. Enjoy some free time to join an optional traditional Tuscan feast, including locally grown products cooked in the traditional style and Florentin steak. This afternoon, stop by the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa to capture the perfect photo with this legendary landmark - get creative with how you "hold" it, or get even more creative with seemingly interactive photos that don't involve holding it up. Today offers the perfect blend of history, art, and fun.
After experiencing the top attractions in Tuscany, today offers a discovery of the captivating coastal views of Cinque Terre. These five cliffside villages are renowned for their vibrant colours that make for unmissable photo opportunities. As the coach travels along the coast, catch glimpses of the scenic landscapes that pass. From vineyards with classic Italian terraces to picturesque piers and stretching seas. Since no cars are allowed in Cinque Terre, you'll be able to stroll in peace, sampling local seafood and pairing anything possible with pesto. Then, enjoy some free time to explore more hidden gems on a local train along the famous coastal trails.
This morning, travel to the fashion-forward city of Milan, known for its seamless blend of fashion, art and culture. Milan truly has an atmosphere you have to experience to understand! Marvel at the awe-inspiring Duomo di Milano and its intricate Gothic details before heading off to the serene Italian Lakes region. Relish the undisturbed beauty of still waters and soak up the surrounding vineyard vistas. This evening, why not end off the perfect day on tour with a delicious dinner? What a way to capture the region's charm!
Exchange the views of the Italian Lake District for fair Verona today. This charming city is known for the Shakespearean romance that played out here. Visit Juliet’s Balcony, where Juliet spoke her famous lines down upon Romeo. Behold the impressive Roman amphitheatre, filled with a rich history. Next, journey to Venice, home of gondolas, winding canals, and Renaissance palaces. Be sure to marvel at some of Venice’s unique architecture on an exploration of the Grand Canal and bustling St. Mark’s Square! Why not join an optional twilight water taxi cruise along the twinkling canals?
What better way to get immersed in the vibrance, variety and views of Venice than with a free day? Enjoy the opportunity to discover this magical floating city at your own pace, as there are many leisurely attractions to fill the day. Embark on the ultimate bucket-list Venice experience with a traditional gondola ride. Or, explore the picturesque piazzas and connect with the culture by setting up at a local café to people-watch and treat your ears to the Italian language. There are so many intertwining and winding streets that you could even get lost in them! However, the only thing you should get lost in is the beauty of Venice!
Leaving Venice behind, tick another country off your list and travel to the independent state of San Marino. This stunning microstate is perched atop Mount Titano. Take some time to traverse its many medieval streets, witness the ancient fortresses, and capture the sensational vistas. This might be Europe’s third-smallest state but what it lacks in size it makes up for with history and culture! Next, head back to Rome where you'll spend your final evening on tour in the Eternal City. Explore at leisure; it's the last night on tour, after all!
After waking up in Rome for the last time on tour, enjoy breakfast before this exciting, educational and downright unmissable Italian Indulgence comes to an end. We hope you had a fulfilling time on tour, and that you’ve made memories that’ll last a lifetime! May we be lucky enough to see you on tour again soon!
