Why Spring is the Best Time to Travel Around Europe
By Leticia Prieto, Head of Product, Group Tour Shop.
Enjoy the Best of Both Seasons
Spring is my favourite time of the year to travel around Europe. Every year I take a week off to travel around a European region in Spring, particularly my favourite months are April and May. Do you want to know why?

Europe in Bloom: A Feast for the Senses
Spring brings Europe to life with vibrant colours and fragrant flowers. Some of my fondest memories include:
- Rome: The Spanish Steps in May, adorned with blooming azaleas.
- Seville: The Alcazar palace gardens bursting with jasmine, jacarandas, and bougainvillea.
- The Netherlands: The famous Keukenhof Gardens near Amsterdam, where endless rows of tulips stretch for kilometers.
Everywhere you go, Europe feels alive, fresh, and inviting.
Perfect Weather for Sightseeing
Spring offers longer days and mild temperatures, making sightseeing comfortable and enjoyable. The tourist season is just beginning, and you can feel the excitement as cities gear up. From crisp, sunny mornings to bright evenings, spring provides the perfect backdrop for exploration without the intense summer crowds.
Experience Unique Easter Traditions
Spring often coincides with Easter, and in Europe, these celebrations are steeped in centuries-old traditions:
- Spain & Italy: Grand religious parades with music and incense fill the streets.
- Austria: Families gather for Easter egg painting and local festivities.
- Belgium: Indulge in world-famous chocolate to celebrate the season.
These cultural experiences add a unique touch to any European adventure.
Plan Your 2026 European Tour
If you're considering a group tour to Europe in 2026, spring is an ideal time to visit. Many of the destinations mentioned can be experienced on our Classic Europe or Spain and Portugal tours.
Take advantage of the season's beauty and cultural richness to create unforgettable memories.
